June 19, 2024 A Cross Country Move

For those of you who have not followed me and my Mom, I have a news flash for you. We are now living in South Lake Tahoe, California.

Yep, from east coast New Jersey to the other side of the country.  With our cat, Onyx. Onyx will definitely be the subject of one of my books, if not many!

So why South Lake Tahoe? Hello? Have you ever been? My Mom says she feels like she’s in Heaven, it is just that beautiful.

My Mom has been visiting her sister Robin in Tahoe for at least 30 years. My Mom especially loved staying with Robin, at Robin’s cabin.

So, after all of these years, my Mom now owns Robin’s cabin. Onyx of course thinks she owns the cabin, but that’s another story.

The first thing my Mom did once the cabin became hers, was to have arborist, William (Bill) Probst, come and evaluate all the trees on the property. Bill is a tree saver. His company is Arbor Green.

He and Andrew Babcott, his apprentice, began deadwooding and fertilizing all our trees this week. The irrigation system is going to get the once over, this weekend.

This adventure has just begun. Stay tuned!

Imre Kuru and his guys (IKI Transport) moved everything, including my Mom’s car.  His wife was supposed to drive with him but there was a family emergency. If you can believe it, Imre drove alone. A superhero if ever there was one.

Onyx and my Mom flew first class, on Onyx’ insistence. Just kidding, but Onyx’ carrier fit perfectly.

It seemed that Onyx felt right at home in the cabin, from the very first day.

This is Andrew the apprentice. He’s learning from a very good teacher!
