Nurturing a Cabin: And can a spirit be nurtured?

July 20, 2024 Nurturing a Cabin: And can a spirit be nurtured?

Another work day at the cabin.  Today handyman and Boss, Adrian and his 3 trusty helpers arrived bright and early to repair damaged wood near the foundation of the cabin (from snow mainly) and to remove the last raised garden bed and sand from a fire pit area.

My Mom is not a vegetable garden person (she loves flowers, trees and plants) and she is not one to sit near a fire pit (lung issues).  The guys were here until mid-afternoon when it started to rain.

One photo is of Adrian and his brother-in-law Carlos, working on the cabin, while Alexis (Carlos' son) and Kevin, were busy with the fire pit, as shown in the other photo.

My Mom was busy putting names and contact information into an excel sheet to get ready for our books' re-launch.

But of course, my Mom was up and down checking on the guys and their work.

Not that she wanted to make sure they were working, (because this crew of men have an amazing work ethic) but because she wanted to see what they were doing that was going to ensure that the cabin would remain cozy and dry through the winter.

One of the photos I'm including is one of some of the flashing Adrian used to prevent water damage.

My Mom is taking homeownership seriously, she's a nurturer by nature and now our home is something else to nurture, besides Onyx and me of course.  But, can a spirit be nurtured?  I think so.

At least I feel nurtured every time my Mom picks up her pen to write a story.

I know she's thinking about me and listening to my voice as we write about life.

Here's a photo of my Mom's writing spot this evening.  She's having snacks and prosecco, and writing about the day with me.

It will be time for dinner in a minute, so I'll say good-bye for now.  I'll catch you up on the next Tahoe sensation soon!

Thanks for listening.
