Are Our Posts More Pleasurable Than Painful?

August 1, 2024 Are Our Posts More Pleasurable Than Painful?

August 01, 20243 min read

If you're reading this, I suppose you're listening and happy to be doing that.

My Mom thinks, that just perhaps, our books and posts are easing people's suffering.

After all, don't we choose joy over suffering?  Don't we opt in for what's less painful and more pleasurable in our lives?

Don't we love to be distracted from whatever it is that takes us out of a peaceful state of mind?

Well, right now, Onyx and my Mom are out on the back deck.  It's cooler here than in the house right now (choosing pleasure over pain?).

My Mom is writing and Onyx is stretching out in her cat pen.

And this last fire in Chico, CA, is 260 miles in its perimeter.  It's been dry but what was not anticipated, was a burning car being pushed into a very dry ravine.  The result, disaster.  And we have felt the effects, hundreds of miles away.

My Mom supposes that every part of the country has is own environmental troubles, this happens to be ours.

My Mom has sensitive lungs, so anything related to breathing is potentially challenging.  Thank goodness that so far she has felt really well.

This morning we watched a little Blue Jay plucking away at some bits of bread my Mom had tossed near our birdbath.

We watched one guy or gal take pieces of bread and bury them in the mulch surrounding our 900 year old Juniper.

My Mom thought this was unusual.

Wouldn't other Blue Jays, rabbits, squirrels or chipmunks be able to figure out where the bird's bread was buried?

As an added bit of news, the birds do seem to like the birdbath.

The second birdbath arrived with a gorgeous heavy glass top for the bathing part but my Mom thinks the base is a little rickety rackety.

She decided to give the base away and has set the bath part on the deck itself.

It also has a solar light in the center that glows in the dark! Just in case some birds want an extraordinarily beautiful night bath experience, it is at their disposal.

So far we haven't seen any birds in it.  We hope they'll check it out, and enjoy it soon.

We think you follow us because the experience is a pleasurable one! Yay pleasure! Boo pain!

Thanks for reading!
