Montana Here We Come!

September 16, 2024 Montana Here We Come!

September 16, 20244 min read

You know my Mom is going to Montana, but did I happen to mention that I'm going too?

Yep! Cayla, Onyx' sitter drove us to Reno to catch the plane,

to meet my Mom's friend Kathe, at the Denver airport. The ride at 5:30 a.m. (Oy), was good.

Cayla and my Mom always find plenty to talk about.

For this ride it was really about food (they were probably both hungry).

My Mom tried sleeping on the flight to Denver.

In Denver, my Mom snuck up on Kathe at our flight gate.

My Mom fake sneezed behind Kathe a few times until Kathe turned to see it was my Mom.

They are both jokesters, which makes for fun times.

These girls love each other and really enjoy each other's company.

They've known one another for almost 50 years.

Kathe

I think Kathe was happy that the "sneezer" was my Mom!

They lucked out when seated on their flight from Denver to Bozeman, Montana.

Sitting next to them was the nicest person they could have asked for.

His name is Dwayne Boone.  If you ever need to travel with a great human, he's your man.

The three of them had a good time together laughing and sharing about one another's lives.

Dwayne

This is Dwayne, and he has a really nice smile too!

What a beautiful country we have.

When we finally arrived and picked up our rental car, my Mom drove and Kathe was the navigator.

They were really tired from the day's journey but they had to stop for groceries, and then there was another part of the trip remaining.

They had to drive about an hour, on a very fast highway.

Many people think my Mom drives like an old lady. (Sorry Mom but I've heard it myself.)

By the way, no highway lights other than from other cars!

At some point, we missed the turn off to the ranch and had to back track 4 or 5 miles, and then take a dirt road, (more like a rock-filled road, for another 4+ miles).

Could this trip be any longer??

What my Mom did NOT want to happen, was a flat tire or a cracked windshield.

It was stressful driving in the dark, but Tanya, our hosts' daughter (and property manager), was gracious enough to talk us through the last few miles until we reached the ranch.

We were very happy to arrive.

Tanya invited Kathe and my Mom to the main house for pizza, after unloading the car and groceries.

After chatting, eating and drinking wine that my Mom and Kathe brought over, it was time to get ready for bed.

There's plenty more to tell!

Hope we keep you interested enough to continue!  'Til then.
