We arrived home on Monday, late. Tuesday was a wash out.
Well, my Mom did get one wash out on the line. And she did go grocery shopping, but that’s about the extent of it.
She was beat from traveling from 6 a.m. until 10:30 p.m.Geez, you'd think we went to Australia or somewhere really far! It was just Montana!
Today was a different story.
There was Sangha (my Mom's meditation group), and then there was a meeting with Patti Zorr, our book marketer.
Patti wanted to discuss the prices of our books on Amazon. She wants my Mom to lower the prices.
My Mom said that if she did that, there would be no royalties to give to the non-profits. As it is, the royalties are not much, if at all about $2.00 for a retailed book of $25.-$35.
Patti thought that there must be something wrong, until my Mom mentioned that the pricing is probably because of the photos which are in color, in the books.
So now we have to have a different plan. And the plan will be with more emphasis on eBooks, which are less expensive to purchase.
Patti will probably link to Amazon for people who want the paperbacks or hardcovers.
My Mom was getting disheartened and thinking she'd have to stop writing books and stick to a blog.
But then where would the money come from for the non-profits?
Unless you're like my Mom's last law clerk, John Oh, who bought all our books for his niece Hayley,
AND generously sent $100.00 to Bergen County Horse Rescue!!!
Man!! That was so great!! Thank you so much John!! (My Mom said we should be paying John for all the work he did for her when he was clerking!!)
Well, we're going to figure this out and keep writing in the meanwhile. People have enjoyed our stories before, so we'll keep on going.
When I think about it, when we started writing during covid, we weren't thinking about money for non-profits, my Mom just gave when she could.
But now she's thinking about when she's gone and being able to support these same non-profits after she is longer here.
After all, horses, and dogs and cats need to eat, Redwoods will need to be protected, and families assisted.
Our blog will be gone, but our stories can live on through the books we've written. And if my Mom creates our own non-profit, it too can live on, administered by maybe one of my Mom's ni
If you have any ideas or thoughts on the matter, text my Mom at 201-388-0241, or email her at [email protected].
We were writing near our Juniper tree and Onyx was ready to go inside!
Here are those photos!
Our beautiful Juniper, inspiring our writing each day.
Onyx is ready to go inside.
Don't forget to let us know your thoughts! We'll listen!
