My Mom was just about to start writing a story and guess what? She saw a BABY BEAR coming across the street towards our house!
But then she or he looked like she or he went into the neighbor's yard!
My Mom alerted the neighbors but hasn't seen the bear since.
Yikes!
Brown bears are not known to harm humans, but still, they're big and strong and Heaven only knows where the Mama Bear was!
That's a MUCH bigger problem!
Cayla, Onyx' sitter, responded saying that knowing a bear was in the neighborhood explained why Winnie, her dog, (my Mom's new dog walking client) was going crazy!
Darn it! Why doesn't my Mom have her phone for a photo on hand for moments like this!
I'll let you know if there is anything further to report!
My Mom had Onyx out on the long rope and leash this morning.
She DOES NOT like the harness but does LOVE being outside!
First there was the front yard inspection
Here's Onyx on the long leash in the backyard
Here's the long leash closeup of a happy girl
I think she shows my Mom gratitude by sitting by my Mom while being out there for awhile.
Wrap around gratitude
In the afternoon, Onyx wanted to go out again.
She was crying at the side door, then sitting by the back door, but my Mom tried 3x to put her harness on, and Onyx was not cooperating, so, my Mom didn't force it.
Onyx' cat pens have been stored away for the winter, mainly because my Mom is not going to sit outside in these cooler temps, to write, and she doesn't want to leave Onyx out by herself of course.
After Onyx' morning "walk", my Mom took "Winnie" (Cayla's dog) for a pretty long walk (for my Mom that is).
Yesterday my Mom had a trial run with Winnie and Cayla, just down the street, and my Mom said she felt winded!
Oy yoy yoy!
That's Winnie at the top of this page, she's a beauty.
But today, my Mom took Winnie and had no problem. Thank goodness!
As I think I told you, Winnie is an Alaskan Husky, literally the sledding dog! This girl looks like a slender girl but frankly her look is deceiving. She has a broad chest and her hind quarters are incredibly strong looking.
My Mom said Winnie looks like she holds back her power when she is walking. Almost like a military dog, ready to spring into action. My Mom thinks that Winnie may have been a military dog in a past life. She's really strong but not in a showy way, it seems like she "holds" her power.
And she is a pleasure to walk. My Mom said that Winnie does not pull, that she was just right.
Winnie, the perfect walker!
Dogs, cats, bears! We love them all! Maybe some at a distance!
We hope our stories brighten your day and lift your heart, even if just a little!

Life is short. Be kind! Love a lot!
