December 18, 2024 Out with The Old and in with The New!
It's a tricky time of year.
So many things happening, so much to manage.
An entire year is ending.
365 days filled with happiness, sadness, births, deaths, beginnings, endings....filled to the brim with LIFE!
And....we get to do it all over again in 2025!
But my Mom says we need to take care of ourselves as we end this year.
We want to be ready in every way for the New Year.
It's a fresh start, a clean slate, a new calendar of "one day at a time".
We've got to be ready!
In some cultures, people clean their houses from top to bottom, some leave their doors open to let out the old year and bring in the new.
My Mom's friend Chris says she's going to fill a bucket of water and toss it out the front door!
Do whatever it takes to feel you're letting go of the old and bringing in the new!
My Mom and her sister Robin will have a New Year's Eve dinner together at their favorite restaurant in town, "Cafe Fiore".
They'll toast 2024 and everything they've experienced.
For my Mom and Onyx (and me too) it will have been after our cross country move; buying Robin's cabin; becoming a solid member of a meditation group; loving a Lot a Lot of horses; studying animal communication; continuing Pilates with Brett and starting yoga with Mallory; marketing our books with Patti Zorr; traveling to Ireland (to see Angela and Abby) and Montana (with Babe); writing a blog and planning more books to add to our series.
My Mom has met new friends and stayed connected to old friends; and my Mom's stepmother's estate is nearly completed, that kept her busy!
My Mom thinks that the best part of this past year has been to maintain a positive attitude.
She thinks that's where it starts.
She's reconnected with Rhonda Byrne's book "the Power", on audio!
She read somewhere (probably from Rhonda) that a person can only hold one thought in their mind at a time, therefore make it a positive one.
It's a Blessing really, to be able to focus on the positive.
But truthfully there's so much to Love that's right in front of us, from a pretty color, to a living plant, a warm home, a mountain lion of a cat (sorry Onyx), food to eat, a hot cup of coffee, fingers and toes that move.
It's a matter of focus.
And my Mom and I choose Love.
It's a choice.
May this New Year bring with it, lots to Love and the will to choose Love.
We wish that for you.

Can you see the squirrel? Our kitchen doesn't close in the winter!

Life is too short for anything else!
