Much Too Windy for Brushing the Horses Today!

February 16, 2025 Much Too Windy for Brushing the Horses Today!

February 17, 20256 min read

My Mom's boys were relaxing before lunch.

On my Mom's arrival, both Wiki and Scooter turned their heads her way.

Wiki is on the ground

Wiki is on the ground.

We're not sure if they smelled my Mom coming or if they heard her car.

My Mom read that horses have a keen sense of smell.

They are "flight" animals and can smell a predator!

I guess in my Mom's case, they're happy to smell her!

As to the sound of a car, apparently they can recognize that too!

Well, I'm sure they associate my Mom with goodness, like treats and loving words and attention.

So whether they smell her or hear her, they're happy to see her.

Today was just a treat day, however.

The wind was blowing between 17 and 30 mph!

There was no way any brushing was happening.

My Mom had to hold on to the fences at times because of the wind gusts!

As you can see here, Liam's mane was nearly standing straight up!

Oh and here's a photo of Wiki and Scooter having lunch with the birds! Can you see the birds?

Just to keep you up to date with my Mom's activities, her animal communication course has ended.

It was 12 weeks long!

My Mom absolutely LOVES Penelope Smith, her teacher.

Penelope is the grandmother of animal communication!

My Mom thinks that Penelope's mindset is so BROAD, so wide open.

One of my Mom's judge friends thinks all the things my Mom is doing are so "new age-y".

Maybe these things are "new" to them, but not new to my Mom.

Penelope has another course coming after April 30th.

My Mom will probably take it because just hearing Penelope's "wide open" view of everything our Earth holds, is beautiful.

My Mom thinks the next course is for animal communication certification.

My Mom has no intention of yet another career, but she is interested in connecting more deeply with animals and humans.

Sorry if I've told you all this already.

Also, we had another snowstorm this past week, about 8 or so inches.

Here's the view from the dining table:

So beautiful!

My Mom met pussycat "Mo" this week.

Robin was taking care of her.

How about those beautiful green eyes!

Oh and little Miss Onyx spent the night in the pantry!

We think she slipped in when my Mom wasn't looking!

In the morning she didn't appear until my Mom opened the pantry door! Oy!!

She seemed unscathed, just a little cranky.

Later, she spent some time catching up on a more restful sleep,

on my Mom's legs:

Poor dear

This is Cosmo, another of Robin's wards.

He has a gentlemanly way of asking to go outside:

South Lake Tahoe

And here are some photos of the area near the horse ranch.

Some of them were taken on the way back home, like the one at the top of the blog.

We hope you like them:

South Lake Tahoe

See the snow covered mountains in the background?

This view is to the right of the fence in the photo at the top of the blog.

This view is to the right of the fence in the photo at the top of the blog.

Come on now, how beautiful is this?

Come on now, how beautiful is this?

Those are clouds on top of those mountains.

Those are clouds on top of those mountains.

Thanks so much for reading!

There's so much to love about living in this area.

We hope you find as much to love, in all that surrounds you!

Life is short, love everything you can!

Love,

Maisy❤️
