The Power was Out But Not The Power of the Pen

March 5, 2025 The Power was Out But Not The Power of the Pen!

March 05, 20258 min read

It's the perfect day for writing, no electricity.

The power went out this morning and it is still out, 6 hours later.

No issue here, since my Mom is  P  R  E  T  T  Y  good about going with the flow.

The photo at the top of this post is a pot of water trying to boil, by the light of "tea" lights.

My Mom thought a cup of tea would be nice at this time, she saw this trick on the internet.

I wouldn't rush to set this up because frankly, there's less than an inch of water in the pot and it has been "on the fire" for over 2 hours!

Might be 3 or 4 hours by the time the water starts to boil.

Let me rephrase.....maybe 6 hours.

My Mom's going to look into a battery-operated kettle, because this is ridiculous!

Not to fear, maybe a nap will be on the afternoon agenda.

My Mom's plan before the outage, was to get one more document, then scan everything over to her accountant Jennifer Woods.

Maybe you'll recall Jenn's pup "Bean" from the post of 8/7/24, he's a cutie.

Finishing that project up was going to call for a Prosecco celebration.

My Mom said maybe she'll toast the "almost" finale anyway.

Today I'd like to show you a bunch of photos basically about LOVE, but I do want to mention a few things first.

We did go see the horses this past weekend, but my Mom's friend Charmaine, drove with my Mom for a midweek visit, no brushing, just treats.

My Mom learned a lot about Charmaine during their drive.

Charmaine has been around horses in her life.

Her grandparents had a cattle ranch, where her grandfather would ride the ranch, on his horse, to tend to the cattle.

So, there were horses there but Charmaine said she wasn't allowed to ride them.

Not to fear, she rode her friend's horses!

Well anyway, my Mom felt very good about having Charmaine with her around the horses.

She said that Charmaine has a very gentle way about her, and that her energy is very calming.

And that's perfect for horses.

The horses seemed very comfortable with Charmaine too.

They didn't visit with all the horses, just Scooter, Wiki, Liam and Faralli.

These four are in a photo in the blog post from 2/25/25 Part 3.

I think Charmaine is coming back with us next weekend, when my Mom brushes the Seniors.

My Mom is thinking that little Steel, (remember him from the top of the post from 2/25/25 Part 2?), might be perfect for Charmaine to brush, since,

#1. he looks like he needs it, and

#2. Charmaine was saying how much she liked the little donkeys at the ranch.

Steel is owned by Kristen (the ranch owner), but the donkeys are privately owned.

Hmm, I wonder if those owners would mind a little help with the brushing?

We'll see.

Oh, and my Mom wanted to share that when she went back on the weekend, Faralli (the beauty in the post from Part 3 on 2/25/25 and from many other posts before), actually let my Mom give him a little neck brushing, over the fence.

Now if you've been reading our stories, Faralli is privately owned and is not paid that much attention (other than food and lodging).

My Mom thinks that because of that, he is skittish and acts a little jerky.

Not in a bad way, just in a "I don't trust people way".

He doesn't really allow my Mom to touch him, other than to take treats from her fingers, and he kind of jumps back a little at the thought of any additional contact.

So, to let my Mom brush him a bit, was a huge deal.

He knows my Mom by now and he also observes her brushing Wiki and Scooter.

He's a smart boy, maybe little by little he'll be able to put his anxieties or fears aside, and feel loved.

The other horse news is that Balthazar (he's the guy taking my Mom's curry brush, in the post from 2/25/25 Part 2).

Balthazar lives next to Chief and is privately owned, and void of any real one-on-one love, we think.

Anyway.....he MAY have a new owner soon!

Her name is Ann, my Mom met her last weekend, and my Mom is THRILLED!

Fingers crossed, because it's not definite.

However, my Mom said that Ann seems like a very nice person, of course she is, she brings her dog "Hope" to the ranch!

My Mom has seen Hope a few times but didn't know the connection.

We think that Ann is learning about horses right now.

Well, anyway, we REALLY hope this happens for Balthazar, he is definitely a wonderful boy.

I started out telling you that I have a lot of photos to share, but I think I should start another post before I lose you,

if I haven't already!  Say it isn't so!!

Well, so long for now, I'll continue in the next post!

Choose to Love everything,

you'll feel divine,

Love you lots,

Maisy❤️
