They are readers! Music to my ears!

So of course, my Mom gave their grandmother, Deb, all six books of my Maisy Star series.

It's a fun photo, it looks like they really like the books! Yay!

So, after Scooter's passing last Sunday, the entire week after was kind of slow and reflective for my Mom.

She had her ups and downs (a lot of downs, mostly on the sofa with Onyx), but then she got a second wind so to speak, and started tearing apart our upstairs extra room.

Pretty soon rolling shelving were getting dismantled, and piles of clothes to go to Goodwill, began to mount.

The room is a disaster.

I sure hope she gets it straightened out, because she leaves for Utah to be with Robin (her sister), and their friend "Babe" (from Book 2, RESCUED), on Saturday.

Yesterday my Mom was back at the ranch.

She drove up to Scooter's old paddock and lo and behold, there was a horse with Scooter's coloring, standing at the gate.

My Mom was so startled she burst into tears.

I guess she still has a lot of tears to empty out about Scooter's passing, and this horse made that happen.

It wasn't Scooter (a person could dream), as it turns out it was Silver.

He's the guy who tried to climb over the fence in the area he used to live in.

He's a tricky fellow. (See blog post February 25, 2025 Part Two)

My Mom knows Silver but she didn't recognize him in his new setting.

He is one huge guy and in Scooter's paddock he didn't look as big.

Well, he greeted my Mom and accepted cookies of course, because that has always been my Mom's involvement with him, and the other horses she does not groom.

Well, now that that was over, my Mom proceeded to meet Donnis Thran, for a BioScanning treatment for Wiki.

If you'll recall, Wiki isn't always first to come along for a brushing or a muzzle touch.

So...Donnis and my Mom were really ready for Wiki to NOT cooperate, and to run from them.

Perhaps he would remember that the last person/horse, to have a BioScan was Scooter....and look what happened to him.

But to their surprise, Wiki let Donnis put a halter on him, and he stood patiently while my Mom brushed him, Donnis scanned him and then treated him.

It must have been 2 hours.

Maybe Wiki was too exhausted from all of this, to actually kick into "Flight" mode and as far away from them as possible.

He was an absolute angel.

My Mom looks forward to hearing how he's doing since all of this.

It will be 2 weeks until she goes back to the ranch.

She hopes to meet Donnis again and give Wiki another treatment.

If they can, they may give "Chief" a treatment too.

Even I think that guy needs it.

He's pretty old and is still a lesson horse.

So...the "healing" or just plain LOVE continues in our part of the world.

Mom's friend Mark sent this photo from Florida.

Mark was LOVING his fishing trip.

Onyx needed a rest after NOT LOVING having the house cleaned by Page.

The very LOVEly Golden Bridge, in Vietnam, my Mom's friend Ebony was there!

Onyx absolutely LOVING being in the backyard.

Mom's LOVEly friend Dr. Gong, took his class to the Homegrown National Park and Wildlife Habitat, in Florida. His students have to read this book for his Ethnography: Theory and Practice class. Wow! Way to open hearts Dr. Gong!
