There's more to say about Utah of course, but I do feel the need to inform you about how "mountain lion" Onyx fared, while we were away.
The photo at the top of this post is of Onyx, once she relaxed with Cayla, her sitter.
But exposing her belly to Cayla came only after hissing and swatting, and until she remembered that Cayla actually is the one feeding her.
So the personality switching happened every visit.
I think on the first day,
Onyx chased Cayla out the door.
Onyx is such a darling.
Cayla did play with Onyx with the laser. That did seem to help.
As a dog, the persistent hissing would aggravate me, but Cayla told my Mom she just ignores it.
Thank goodness.
My Mom thinks that all of Onyx' upsetment was exacerbated, because she was not going outside in her cat pen.
So, being cooped up in the cabin, and with no Mom in sight, is not a good thing for the spoiled pussycat.
(Ok, I had to say it.)
The strain adds up.
Back to Utah.
This next photo is a view from a neighboring property,
where my Mom, Robin and their friend Kathe (she's "Babe" from my Book 2, "RESCUED"), had Easter Sunday dinner.
10 or so neighbors had dinner together with this view as a backdrop:
Easter in Utah
This next view is looking out from Robin's property:
A wall of stone cradling the valley.
Oh, and Utah Junipers live in the area.
Beautiful Juniper berries were abundant.
If you'll remember, our Lake Tahoe Juniper is 900 years old!
Not sure how old this Juniper is:
Probably a baby Juniper
There's a local produce market nearby.
They have all kinds of regular greens and microgreens, asparagus too! So lush!
I'm sure there will be tomatoes soon!
And....payment is by the honor system!
Patrons leave their money in a box!
And fresh eggs from Linda's chickens, almost within walking distance!
Country living at its best!
However, these city girls needed to have some great food on this trip, and found it at 2 restaurants, in Salt Lake City, which is where my Mom and Kathe flew into and out of.
And....they even took duplicate pasta lunch orders, to enjoy once they arrived at Robin's, which was a 4 hour drive from Salt Lake City!
God Bless Robin, what a trooper!
She had already driven 4 hours to pick up my Mom and Kathe!
So the lunch break was much needed, by everyone!
They enjoyed the "to go" pastas another day.
Good thinking Mom!
Fantastic leftovers!
I hope you're Loving Utah, because there's more to come, and then I have to tell you about the Horse Healing Retreat in Nevada!
Hang in there!
Oh, and my Mom thinks that if at all possible, it's important to have a quiet place, to be with yourself.
I'm sure she'll add to that thought soon.
I'll let you know.
Bye for now,
Love you!
