June 21, 2025 PART TWO: Non-Yoga Outdoor Activities
How about some outdoor yoga? of sorts.
Yoga instructor Mallory and my Mom, walked to a beautiful spot along the Truckee River.
No yoga was involved.
But they both sat beside the moving water, listening to the sound of the water and the birds, and meditated for a while.
These 2 photos are from that morning:

Walking to a spot to sit

They sat on the bank of the river
Another non-yoga session with Mallory was on Fallen Leaf Lake.
They Kayaked!
Such fun and they actually saw river otters, on the logs that border the marina!

Mallory doing non-yoga on her kayak

They spotted the otters at a distance

Pretty close to the otters, not sure if you can see them
The 2 non-yoga-doers, had another walk/hike, this one was to the waterfalls above Lily Lake.
Gosh, they are beautiful.
You know I went right?
The mountain lion pussycat is just fine at home by herself.
Here are the falls:

There was video of the falls but it wouldn't send!
Last but never least, are some photos of new puppy Alfie, learning how to stay on a kayak while it is moving, and when it isn't:
That's my Mom and Alfie at the top of this blog post, before the day's lesson.

Here's momma and pup Alfie....setting sail

Little Alfie after falling in the drink
He didn't like being wet, but managed to take another 2 unwanted dips, before the excursion was complete.
Well, that's a lot of news!
I guess you've made it to the end!
Oh, one more thing.
Remember my Mom's kindergarten pal Deb? (see the Horse Retreat blog post from 5/2/25)
Well, Deb, who has been artistic since birth (we're pretty sure),made a drawing of my Mom's Facebook profile photo.
The photo (and now drawing) depicts my Mom, and a class of 2nd graders she went to talk to about my books.

Deb's drawing of my Mom and kids
My Mom loves Deb, and that Deb took the time, to make yet another drawing for her.
The first drawing was of Scooter.
Deb gave it to my Mom when she came out for the Horse Retreat.
My Mom cried of course.
I thought I had shared Scooter's drawing that Deb did, but apparently not, here it is:

Deb's Scootery Dootery drawing
If you don't recall about Scooter, he passed away recently, his story is in blog post 4/6/25 Scootery Dootery.
Well, enough for today.
