Writing, Simply for the Joy of it.

September 23, 2025 Writing, Simply for the Joy of it.

My Mom, Marybeth (very much alive), spends $240. per month, co-sponsoring the horse, Murphy, at Bergen County Horse Rescue, in New Jersey.

Besides volunteering her time twice a week, she also is spending $320. per month for horse care, at the Sheridan Creek Equestrian Center, in Gardnerville, Nevada.

That doesn't include about $130. every 6 weeks, on horse cookies and carrots she shares, with many of the horses she has simply befriended.

And now, she's paying for John Lance, the farrier,to take care of Wiki's hooves every 2 months at $65, each visit.

What my Mom thought would happen, when she launched my Maisy Star series, was that she would sell loads of our books, and be able to give even more money,to help support multiple rescue organizations, in their care of horses and other animals.

Granted, Sheridan Creek is not a rescue organization, it's a private horse ranch for boarding, riding and training. But that's where my Mom started her hands-on work with horses, beginning with the Senior horses,

MijaMax, and Scooter.

Then Wiki, who is in his 20's not 30's like the Seniors, moved in with Scooter, and then when Scooter passed, my Mom took Wiki under her wing.

And frankly, Kristin, the owner of the ranch, has many horses of her own that have been rescued by her, from neglect situations. Wiki is one of those horses.

So, my Mom feels good about giving her time and money,to the care of some of these horses.

Why am I telling you all of this?

Well, my Maisy Star books are not selling.

We had a post last year or maybe it was this year, where our books were ranked pretty high in the world of Amazon.

But frankly, that ranking (I think), is just about people browsing around Amazon's books.

It's not that they are buying them.

Even though 100% of profits go to animal rescue.

In this second half of the year, our profits were $1.62.

We don't know what the trouble is, even though we do a bunch of marketing.

My Mom says that maybe our books just don't catch shoppers' interest, and they are too expensive, because they have a lot of photos, which costs a lot to print.

So, it's a conundrum.

My Mom doesn't write to make money for charitable causes, she writes because it brings her Joy.

Clearly, you can see that our book production,is not raising funds for rescues and a bunch of horses.

My Mom personally funds these causes, because that brings her Joy too!

It would take thousands of followers, for any publishing company to be interested in producing our books, that's why my Mom self-publishes through Amazon.

(Drawback, very tiny royalties.)

We think that maybe my Mom's blog, could generate a lot of followers, but that has not happened....yet.

You may find it interesting that my Mom doesn't care.

Let me take that back.

She does care, A Lot A lot.

But, it won't make her stop what she's doing.

She writes a blog on the regular, and she has a horse book in the making.

She writes because she Loves to write, and that's that.

And knowing my Mom, she will keep on caring for horses, and spending her money on them, (even though they are not hers), because she's a nurturer.

It's in her blood.

And friends and relatives, send my Mom photos of their animal companions,

and my Mom Loves to share them, and her own photos, because she thinks they are uplifting, that they show people LOVE for animals and humans. She thinks hearts need uplifting, and if it can be through photos or words,we want to do that.

So....climb aboard, because we're not going anywhere but
UP!
Positivity is our goal,
LOVE always is our mantra.

Now, here are some of those photos I was just talking about.

We hope you enjoy them.

And, my Mom's blog, through me, Maisy❤️

This is a photo from Michelle Santana.

Michelle, a psychic medium, inspired my Mom to write about me.

That's huge!!

Alistair the cat, belonged to Michelle's Dad.

Alistair was a friendly roamer, who would often be brought into an unknowing neighbor's home.

Until the neighbor tried to keep him.

Then Alistair proceeded to pee every which way, until he was returned to Michelle's Dad.

Now, I know if you have a cat or a dog, that sometimes you just can't move, when that cat or dog is lying on or next to you.
