Treated Like Royalty

October 17, 2025 Treated Like Royalty

October 17, 202510 min read

And then it began.

My Mom described wanting to see Lois again, as a compelling desire.

Lois is 14 years old today, actually.

Let's say that this post is a Birthday tribute to Lois.

The last time my Mom saw her, was 3 years ago, in Sarasota.

Lois spent a lot of time with us, when Lois and her fathers (Ningtao and Yidong), were our neighbors, in New Jersey.

There were weekdays and weeknights, weekends and multi-week stays.

Lois stayed with us, when we had cat and dog visitors and permanent cat residents.

She maneuvered herself out of harm's way, (most notably out of Onyx' way),with grace and perfect sensitivity.

At one point, my Mom asked if she could take Lois to California.

That was a hard but gentle, "no".

I guess putting it succinctly, we Love Lois and think of her as our family too.

Lois is also a part of Book 3 A Cat Named Gray and Book 4 The Thinning of the Veil of the Maisy Star series!

My Mom tried not to think too much about how Lois would respond to her, when they saw each other again.

The thought that Lois might not remember her (fat chance), or that Lois might be failing, was too much for my Mom to think about.

As far as she was concerned, she would go with the flow and be grateful, to be able to spend time with Lois, and Ningtao and Yidong.

And, Lois' greeting was warm and filled with mutual Love.

It was perfect.

That being said, the following are photos of my Mom's visit.

I think you'll fall in Love with Lois too, she's a very special girl.

 A very happy reunion!

A very happy reunion!

Our first meal together was shared with friends, Effie and Peng.

My Mom had met them when she had first visited.

My Mom and Peng, caught up on their shared Love of Korean dramas, over their group meal at a local Italian restaurant.

Another happy reunion!

Another happy reunion!

It's difficult for Lois to climb the stairs now.

She looked to my Mom to carry her up, but 47 pounds is too much for my Mom!

One of her dads always assisted!

Usually with a hug and a kiss!

No can do Lolo!

No can do Lolo!

When my Mom last visited, Lois slept on my Mom's bed every nite, just like she did in New Jersey, whenever she stayed with us.

This trip, one of Lois' dads, would put her on my Mom's bed each night.

The leap is too much for Lois now.

But, it felt the same.

Nighty nite Lolo!

Nighty nite Lolo!

My Mom's darling Lois, and my Mom, is this next photo.

So happy to be together again!

So happy to be together again!

Beautiful breakfasts and lunches, were a daily occurrence during this "royal" stay.

Homemade bread every day!

Daily walks were on the agenda.

Other than early mornings, my Mom was on duty.

Like old times

Like old times

Chef Ningtao was ready, willing and able, to prepare the best meals!

Yum!

Sausage and Brussels sprouts over pasta!

While in Sarasota, Ningtao and Yidong took my Mom, to some of the local cultural venues.

They went to "Save our Seabirds", a local sanctuary dedicated to the rescue, and rehabilitation of sick, injured, and orphaned birds in the Sarasota area.

My Mom said it was beautiful and each bird(s) areas were immaculately clean, filled with trees, plants and individual bird baths.

They are doing great work, and have a beautiful website Save Our Seabirds.

At the Marie Selby Gardens, Yidong and my Mom, were in awe of Rebecca Louise Law's Orchid show.

There were curtains upon curtains of 20 foot long, displays of the most beautiful preserved flowers.

Her art installation includes flowers, from wherever she shows her work internationally.

Her pieces are individually sewn and suspended.

Her work explores the human connection to nature.

That's kind of like what our little stories are trying to do.

Don't you think?

Sorry to say that no photos were allowed there!

You can see her work online though!

My Mom did take photos at the Sarasota Art Museum.

She loved Lillian Blades, "Through The Veil" show.

This was one of my Mom's favorites.

One evening, my Mom and the guys, went to North Lido Beach before dinner, at St. Armand's circle.

Terns (sea birds), Pelicans and Sandpipers, were filled with excitement as they came to eat.

Their diving, flying and racing along the waters' edge, was a sight to see.

It was a very, very, busy dinner service.

Thank you guys for making my Mom's trip so special!

Every morning, always standing at the top of the stairs,

Lois waited for my Mom to come up for breakfast.

These were very happy moments for my Mom.

Love's anticipation

Love's anticipation.

Effie and Peng hosted our dinner one night.

My Mom said that the few Sarasota restaurants they tried, did not stand up, to the home-cooked meals she experienced.

Everyone toasted Lois for her Birthday on the 17th.

She's 14 years young.🥳

Beef Wellington and Spring rolls!

Do you think Lois knows how well-loved she is?

We think so!

Lois' Love bath!

Lois' Love bath!

Lois really is something.

The Very Best

The Very Best

Ningtao's beautiful final meal before my Mom left Sarasota.

It was an outstanding Chinese beef stew.

It's so evident that he Loves to cook.

My Mom said that his Love shines through, with every meal.

Thank you so much Ningtao.

Thank you so much Ningtao.❤️

There is no shortage of Love for Lois.

Everyone who meets her, Loves her.

She wants to greet everyone when she's out for a walk.

She is always met with a smile.

My Mom thinks her heart turns into a big happy face, when she thinks of Lois.😊

Bye bye darling Lois

Bye bye darling Lois ❤️

Until next time:

May your breaths be deep, and restful.

May your heart be calm.

May your mind be at peace.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARLING LOIS!

WE LOVE YOU, WHOLE❤️EDLY

LOVE,

MAISY❤️and MARYBETH
