December 20, 2025 If Not Now, Then When?
My Mom doesn't think a "Holiday Spirit" just comes upon us.
There's a nurturing that goes on.
A gradual watering.
Some people think it's all commercial,
and forced upon us by marketing gurus.
Maybe there's a push or a nudge there ,
but isn't this "Spirit",
something that comes from family,
friends, and tradition?
Religious celebrations,
traditional foods,
Holiday music,
family and friends gathering.
They all nurture that warm spot inside of us.
The reminder that kindness exists in the world.
Thinking of others,
remembering those who used to celebrate with us.
Inviting people into our homes,
serving specially prepared foods and drinks.
It's the time of year,
to put the brakes on the routine of our daily lives,
and focus on others,
visit with others,
speak with them,
text or write to them.
Reminding them that we are a part of each others' lives.
If you're feeling,
that you haven't really thought about the Holidays,
because you've been struggling to navigate,
the routine of your daily life,
take a moment to look for a bit of nature,
that may be right outside your window,
or on your neighbor's doorstep.
Look up and into the eyes of a person you encounter,
and smile,
even if that person is looking back at you in your own mirror.
If you're having a tough time focusing,
do whatever it is that you think will bring you,
even a "spark" of JOY right now!
Don't put it off,
in case it drifts from your mind.
Look for those Holiday decorations,
that were packed.
Find that pretty wreath that was on your door every year.
Look at a photo of someone you LOVE.
Listen to sweet Holiday music,
savor a sweet treat.
The Season is NOW.
Hold on to it.
Tightly.
With every bit of LOVE,
