April 30, 2026 Failure Is Not The Opposite Of Success, It Walks In The Same Direction As Success.
The nerves have died down,
following my Mom having passed,
her horse anatomy course!
Well done Mom!🥳
Even her computer is more relaxed!
If you can believe it,
the morning of the test,
my Mom sat down at her desk,
and guess what?
The internet was down!
It didn't take much,
for my Mom's interior,
to start revving up.
Thoughts were whirling,
blood was moving quickly,
her pulse was speeding up,
and all did not seem well.
She wanted to start at 9:30,
and be finished within the 4 hour timeframe,
so that she could throw herself on the sofa,
hopefully, with a celebratory glass of Prosecco.
Thankfully, the internet for my Mom's phone,
was working.
(Dear God how does all that work?)
And, she was able to google what to do,
so she could get on with taking the test.
In the interim, she was deep breathing,
counting her breaths in and then out,
trying to come to a state of calmness.
Of course,
my Mom's first thought was,
"Oh dear God,
maybe this horse business isn't for me!
Maybe it's a sign from the Universe,
that I've been barking up the wrong tree,
so to speak."
Well, as my Mom calmed down,
the internet cooperated,
and my Mom could start.
Crazy right?
Did my Mom's worry and stress,
affect whatever it is that makes the internet work?
It was kind of a forced focusing,
instead of wild unhelpful thoughts,
screaming around my Mom's head.
The results of the test,
were practically instantaneous.
The online test calculated my Mom's score,
wished her Congratulations,
pointed out the answers that were incorrect,
and provided a certificate of passing,
all within less than a minute,
at least it seemed like that.
The Prosecco was popped and poured,
my Mom barely able to sit up straight,
propped her feet up,
and let out a sigh,
that even Onyx (our cat) understood.
As you can see from her photo,
at the beginning of this post.
By the next day,
my Mom's focus,
turned to the upcoming 9 day portion,
of the Equinology course,
(which is the study of the horse's body).
She re-read the Welcome Packet,
realized that Day One would begin at 7:45 a.m.,
and promptly added another day to her trip.
There would be no way she would travel,
from South Lake Tahoe to Penngrove,
before class,
because it's a 3 hour drive.
Additionally,
she re-read the instructor's requirement,
that her students have,
some keen horsemanship skills,
i.e. ground handling,
comfortable working around horses,
confident and secure to pick up horse's legs,
leading all types of horse personalities,
and working with different dispositions.😳
Don't get me wrong,
my Mom has been around horses,
for the past 2 plus years,
brushing them, talking to them,
massaging them,
in her own uneducated way,
and basically loving them.
My Mom might be a tad light,
on the true "horsemanship" skills.
But as you know by now....
that will not keep my Mom back,
from moving forward.
So, instead of panicking,
she immediately scheduled,
some time to work with different horses,
with one of Sheridan Creek's horse trainers,
and more time with Donnis Thran,
my Mom's friend,
who you may remember,
from her BioScanning of Chief and Wiki,
from the ranch.
My Mom wants to be more prepared,
when she starts Part 2,
of her course.
The 2nd part starts in less than 2 weeks.
My Mom has some work to do!
For now,
a shoutout for all those,
who sent their good vibes,
and supportive comments, to my Mom,
before she took her test.
My Mom's friend Mary,
told my Mom that she'd LOVE,
to be a horse in my Mom's future.
My Mom got a charge out of that.
The future is indeed bright!
My Mom read something today that said,
"You have built the resilience,
to withstand challenges."
That resonates for my Mom.
She's used to challenges.
She may not be that bold as to say,
that she "laughs in the face of adversity",
but her constant forward movement,
certainly looks and feels like that.
So, Cheers to you Mom!🥂
And thanks to all who read these stories,
